Vince Vaughn, the actor, said in an interview with The New York Times on Saturday that he supports more individual freedom.
Vaughn told the NYT that his grandfather was an Italian who immigrated to America and had a very limited education. Vaughn stated that his grandfather was a jeweler and pawnshop broker.
The actor’s grandfather, on his father’s side, was described as “a sharecropper [and] a steelworker who had a 100-acre farm.”
Vaughn noted his father as the first member of his family to attend college.
“I grew up in apartments, and then I ended up in a suburb of the upper class.” He explained. I was exposed to a wide variety of things and worldviews.
The NYT asked Vaughn: “Do you believe the extremes in your background have influenced your political views?”
Vaughn confirmed that he was a Libertarian, then added, “Yes, I am a believer in allowing people to make their own choices.” So, I believe that guns should be available to everyone and drugs should be legal.
He said that he understood that people had strong opinions about firearm ownership. But he explained that drugs and guns are viewed in the same light. “Like hippies who get high, and then say: We’re hurting no one, so what’s the problem? He said that he understood people’s strong views on firearm ownership, but he explained that he views drugs and guns in a similar light: “Like the hippies would get high and say, We’re not hurting anyone, what’s the deal? They were similar.”
Vaughn expressed his support for the presence of guns in schools so that they can be used to protect children.
Vaughn replied, “You don’t think that the politicians who run your country and mine have guns in their schools? They do. We should have the same rights. “Banning guns is the same as banning forks to try and stop people from becoming fat.”
