After Donald Trump’s historic election victory, supporters of the President-elect sang “How Great Thou Art” to God.
The Truth with Lisa Boothe host Lisa Boothe said that witnessing Trump supporters singing the hymn together in unison as she left the Trump victory celebration moved her to tears. She shared a video on social media.
“These people have been degraded and slandered. They are good people. Patriots from all backgrounds, who love our country and have come together to make it Great Again,” she added.
The video shows Trump supporters singing “O Lord, my God, when I am in awe of you,” and continuing:
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!
This hymn was also performed at Trump’s inaugural service.
Trump won early on Wednesday morning. While some states are still outstanding, Trump has more than the required 270 electoral votes. He is also well on his path to securing the popular vote, which will take the wind out of the sails of establishment media commentators who normally use this occasion to criticize the electoral college.
Trump is the first president to win the White House back after losing his reelection campaign since Grover Cleaver, who did it in 1884 and again in 1892.
Trump has become the 45th president of the United States of America and will soon be the 47th after a campaign unlike any other. Indictments, law enforcement, a raid at his home, assassination efforts, and much more.
Trump stated in his early morning victory speech, “This was a move like no one had ever seen before. I believe this was the greatest political campaign of all time – there’s been nothing like this before in our nation.”
Trump continued, “We have a nation that needs our help. And it desperately needs help. We will fix our borders and we will fix everything in our country. Tonight, we made history and that will be the reason. We overcame barriers that no one thought possible.”
