According to the report, the agent was 38 and had two children.
Fox News sources said that the agent was following a group of migrants riding an ATV and crashed into a closed gate at high speed.
At around 1 a.m. Wednesday, the agent was following the migrants when the crash took place. According to authorities, other agents discovered him unresponsive and attempted to save his life. They requested an ambulance. He was later taken to a local hospital.
This incident follows President Biden’s Tuesday trip to Arizona. He insisted that there were “more pressing matters” than the border crisis when asked why he didn’t visit the border while on his travels.
Raul Ortiz, Chief of the US Border Patrol posted a statement to his Twitter account regarding the death of the agent.
