Georgia Democrat Raphael Warnock has a clear advantage in the race for his Senate seat. Most polls, including one by a Democratic polling company, show Herschel Walker as his potential GOP opponent.
The biggest problem for Warnock is his association with President Biden. His low approval ratings at the state and national levels are dragging him down. It has gotten so bad that Warnock even tries to be a joker by trying to portray himself as a moderate Democrat, to the right on issues such as taxes and border security.
Warnock has admitted that he is aware he is in trouble, considering he is running ads which he admits that he hasn’t done much to write home about during his 15 months as Senator. For those who may have missed it, here’s the text of the ad:
Raphael Warnock is my name. I am a father, senator, pastor, and magician, but I am not a magician. In just one year of being in the Senate, did I believe I could fix Washington? No. Every day, I was focused on what I could do to help our state. I created jobs, fixed infrastructure, and expanded healthcare. This message was approved because it’s not magic. That’s Georgia’s job.
The issue of abortion is one area in which Warnock doesn’t show moderation. We reported that in the wake of Monday’s Supreme Court leak revealing the draft majority opinion by Justice Samuel Alito, Warnock was one of many Democrats who rushed to Twitter to support “a woman’s choice”.
As a pro-choice pastor, I’ve always believed that a patient’s room is way too small for a woman, her doctor, and the United States government.
I’ll always fight to protect a woman’s right to choose. And that will never change.

In response to the tweet, I wrote that Herschel Walker couldn’t have given Herschel Walker a better gift considering Georgia isn’t a blue state. It’s a reddish/purple state with many middle grounders who could be on either side on these hot-button issues. He did not take a position on abortion rights that were considered “middle ground”. This is the type of position Democrats in battleground states try to present themselves as moderates (as Warnock does). Walker will exploit this extreme position in the months ahead by making a clear statement that he supports abortion on demand at all stages of pregnancy.
Though Warnock has faced criticism from fellow members of the clergy over his stance on abortion, which is inconsistent with Biblical teachings, perhaps no criticism was more cutting and to the point than the one he received this week from former NFL coach-turned-commentator Tony Dungy, who often proudly wears his Christian faith on his sleeve when speaking publicly about the moral issues our country faces.
Here is what Dungy wrote Warnock following his pro-abortion message. The most important part is the question at the end.
It all comes down to what you believe about the organism growing inside the mother. Is it a life or not? If it is just growing tissue then your “choice” makes sense. Dungy confronted Warnock via Twitter in December 2020, as part of Warnock’s campaign against Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R). Dungy had also encountered Warnock over his Christian faith on Twitter after learning that Warnock claimed to be a pro-choice pastor.
