What Meetings Did Jeffrey Epstein’s Private Calendar Reveal?

A Sunday report revealed Jeffrey Epstein’s private calendar had scheduled meetings with the current CIA director, a college president, and an attorney from the Obama Administration.

The Wall Street Journal has obtained documents belonging to a wealthy convicted pedophile. Documents revealed planned meetings, which included the then-CIA Director William Burns, and Bard College’s President Leon Botstein. The documents also showed planned meetings with Obama White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler and Professor Noam Chomsky.

All scheduled meetings would have been held after Epstein was imprisoned in 2008 on charges of solicitation, including soliciting children. The WSJ could not prove that all scheduled meetings actually took place nor determine their purpose.

“The director had no knowledge of him, other than that he was introduced as a financial services expert and given general advice about the transition into the private sector”, CIA spokesperson Tammy Kupperman Thorp said.

WSJ reports that Ruemmler has met Epstein dozens of times since her time as a member of the Obama administration. Epstein also wanted Ruemmler on trips to Paris and his Caribbean private island before she was Goldman Sachs’ top lawyer.

CIA Director William Burns speaks

Goldman Sachs confirmed to the outlet that Ruemmler had worked with Epstein while at Latham & Watkins LLP, but that she did not travel along with Epstein. According to a spokesperson from Goldman Sachs, Epstein introduced Ruemmler to potential clients like Bill Gates.

A person who was familiar with the situation said that Ruemmler and Epstein had a professional relationship based on Epstein being able to represent both the Gates Foundation and the Edmond de Rothschild Bank. The source also stated that Ruemmler did not travel to Epstein’s office.

Ruemmler said to WSJ he regretted having ever known Jeffrey Epstein.

The Journal reported that the majority of people they spoke to said they met Epstein for donations or to make powerful connections. Botstein has been the president of Bard College since 1975. He said he met Epstein so he could convince him to donate to the liberal arts school.

Botstein told the outlet that he was “a failed fundraiser” and “was the victim of some sadism on his part when he offered philanthropic help.”

Botstein said that he met Epstein multiple times to solicit donations. He thanked Epstein’s 2012 uninvited donation.

Botstein stated, “We checked him out and he was convicted of a sexual offense.” He pointed out that Bard has an educational program available for prisoners. ”

Chomsky told the outlet that he and Epstein met and discussed academics and politics.

In the documents, prominent figures were also mentioned, including Ariane de Rothschild, who was at the time the CEO of Swiss private banking group Edmond de Rothschild, and Joshua Cooper Ramo, who served as a director of Starbucks Corp. and FedEx Corp.

Epstein was found dead in a cell inside a New York City prison in 2019 while awaiting a trial for sex trafficking.
