Rumors were circulating that Trump would make “The Big Announcement” at the Saturday night rally for J.D., an Ohio Republican Senate candidate. Vance teased instead what would be an anticlimactic announcement at Mar-a-Lago on November 15.

Alina Habba, Trump’s lawyer, said that DeSantis must remain in Florida in the meantime, in preparation for Trump’s announcement.
He must stay in Florida. Stay where you are. Florida is doing an amazing job. Do not rush to make a move.
Habba then repeated Trump’s late-September ill-advised, but still classic Trump boasts that “he made” his former “great buddy”, now “ungrateful”, nationally-respected governor.
Trump made DeSantis DeSantis. DeSantis’s work in Florida is something I enjoy, but he must stay. He is not yet ready.
Translation: Trump feels legitimately threatened by DeSantis’s popularity, and is becoming increasingly obsessed with the fact that the Florida governor could dethrone Trump and win the nomination head-to-head. DeSantis’s track record, credentials, and breadth of knowledge on many issues make me doubt that Trump is truly afraid of a DeSantis 2024 campaign. It’s also foolish to say otherwise.
DeSantis is Trump’s most formidable opponent as he prepares for his next run for the White House. Trump’s inner circle believes it even if he doesn’t believe it.
This is about to get very ugly very soon. It will only be one way: Ron DeSanctimonious is too smart and well-organized to fight in the mud alongside Donald Trump.
