The Collapse of Stacey Abrams’ Campaign Begins as 2018 Election Word Games Continue Getting Played

We previously wrote this month about how Democrat Stacey Abrams was unable to recapture the magic of her failed 2018 gubernatorial election against then-Sec. State Brian Kemp, where both the mainstream media as well as her fellow woke Democrats could not stop talking about her “skills” in motivating and electrifying the Democratic vote.

We filed that report. A lot has happened since then, including the collapse of Abrams’ campaign for Governor. According to RealClearPolitics, Kemp has increased his lead by a significant amount in two weeks.

Opinions vary on the cause of Abrams’ downfall. My concern is her insistence on playing word games about her refusal to concede the 2018 gubernatorial elections to Kemp, and her insistence on separating her claims about a stolen election from former President Donald Trump’s. Abrams’ media allies and those on the left have repeatedly accused her of perpetuating a “Big Lie.”

Abrams was asked in a new interview by The 19th about Republican allegations against her that she is a hypocrite regarding “stolen elections”. Abrams responded that it was wrong to compare her claim with Trump’s.

Stacey Abrams warned Monday not to conflate her refusal in Georgia’s governor’s race of 2018 with the false claims of a stolen election by former President Donald Trump, calling this dangerous and wrong for democracy.

Abrams stated, “I will never say that it’s OK to claim fraudulent outcomes in order to gain power.” It is wrong and I will not engage in it. However, I believe it is essential, particularly for those with the microphone and platform, to discuss access.

Abrams stated that the issues he raised in 2018 did not support his election as governor at Monday’s event. “None of the lawsuits filed would have reversed the outcome of the election. My point was that access to the election was flawed. I refused to accept a system that allows citizens to be denied access. This is very different from someone claiming fraudulent outcomes.”

The problem is that, except for Abrams and a few True Believers from the left, nobody is buying her “stolen argument”. As I have said, Democrats have become so obstinate election-year absolutists in questioning elections and refusing the results (except when they come to some they want to challenge), Abrams’ past has come back to bite them, she and Republicans are trying to criticize them for their hypocrisy. Her claims are also hot garbage.

Perhaps Georgia voters also remember that Abrams and Sen. Raphael Warnock conspired with President Biden to sabotage Georgia’s state out of Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The game was pulled from Atlanta after activists as well as Abrams and Warnock lied about the 2021 electoral reforms bill. They called it “Jim Crow 2.0” and it cost millions of revenue to small businesses in trouble.

Abrams was also criticized earlier in the year for her comments about Georgia to Gwinnett County Democrats (“I’m tired of hearing about how we’re the best state to do business when we’re the worst state to live”) that made the news. This is a remarkable statement, considering that she has at least two properties in Georgia.

Stacey Abrams isn’t worthy of the vote of one Georgian, despite all that she has done to denigrate her home state. But she will get some. If the polls are correct, Kemp will win the race by far more votes than she if he continues his current electoral trajectory.
