School boards and teacher unions have been washed by the radical left cancel culture since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Union leaders have compared returning to in-person instruction to ‘slavery’ and sending teachers back without vaccinations to ‘White supremacist ideology.’ One Oakley Union school board member even described parents wanting their kids back in school as ‘potheads who want their babysitters back.’ School board members have said everything under the sun in order to stay home and collect checks.
Now the San Francisco School Board vice president Alison Collins is under fire for her 2016 tweets, in which she claimed Asian Americans have used “white supremacist thinking” in order to get ahead, and even accused Asian Americans who did not speak out against former President Donald Trump as “house” N-words.
“I grew up in mostly Asian [American] schools and know this experience all too well. Many Asian Am. believe they benefit from the ‘model minority BS. In fact, many Asian Americans [Teachers], [Students], and [Parents] actively promote these myths. They use white supremacist thinking to assimilate and ‘get ahead,’” Collins wrote in a lengthy Twitter thread on Dec. 4, 2016.
Collins explained in the thread that her intentions were to “combat anti-black racism in the Asian community” at her daughter’s mostly Asian American School. She even threatened Asian Americans by asking if they “knew” they were on Trump’s list as well and could be “deported,” “profiled,” and “beaten,” adding that they are still considered “the help.”
The Twitter thread went viral and was highlighted by “Recall SF School Board, a parent-led organization looking to recall Collins, adding that it is “unacceptable for any elected school official, but especially so in a school district where over a third of the children are Asian.”
Siva Raj, one of the group organizers, is looking to replace the merit-based admission at Lowell High School with a lottery system that will remove the deep-seated prejudice against the Asian American community. He writes that bullying, racism, sexual harassment, and all kinds of things have been happening in the school district for years and are only being addressed now by board members looking to ‘score political points’ rather than address the root cause.
“It’s unacceptable for our elected leader, any elected leader, to have such a high degree of personal animosity towards any ethnic minority in this country. Let alone someone who’s on our school board, who’s making day-to-day decisions on the safety and welfare of all our children. I would expect her to be absolutely, completely 100 percent unbiased,” Raj said.
Collins previously shamed parents in a private Facebook post on July 16, 2020, for trying to reduce their kids’ isolation, adding that ‘pandemic pods’ only benefit white parents who have ignored the Black Lives Matter Movement all summer long. She also called school closures as a mental health crisis a “red-herring fallacy,” despite dozens of science-based reports indicating that the pandemic has been harder on teens’ mental health than most.
The organization also looks to recall Board President Gabriela Lopez and Commissioner Faauuga Moliga for rejecting CA funds that could’ve paid for re-opening costs, knowingly widened educational disparities, and keeping their schools shut while larger cities with much higher cases reopened.
You’d think grocery store workers would be causing an uproar (especially after the toilet paper frenzy last year) but it is the school board and teacher unions who have been yelling racial slurs on Zoom and refusing to give dates on the reopening of schools. Many people have lost the trust of their own educators – and it shows.
