Restaurant Owner Calls Out Mayor Garcetti

Small businesses continue to struggle under the draconian lockdowns imposed by the radical left. Several counties, such as Los Angeles, have seen a surge of new cases and entered lockdown mode once again, including a new ban on outdoor dining. Currently, there are three different sets of coronavirus-related restrictions that the people of California are living under. They are not too happy about it.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti recently spoke about the different restrictions and what the orders mean from the state. New restrictions will go into effect when and if ICU beds in the Southern California Region become 85% full. He talked about the different guidelines that everyone should be following and even responded to a restaurant owner who had called his hypocrisy out in a recent video that went viral.

“My heart goes out to Ms. Marsden and the workers at the Pineapple Hill Saloon who have to comply with state and county public health restrictions that close outdoor dining. No one likes these restrictions, but I do support them as our hospital ICU beds fill to capacity and cases have increased by 500%. We must stop this virus before it kills thousands of more Angelenos,” Garcetti said.

The owner of Pineapple Hill Grill & Saloon, Angela Marsden, fought back tears talking about what the state has done to her business. After the recent county-ordered ban on outdoor dining, Mayor Garcetti shut down Marsden’s outdoor patio – while letting a Hollywood movie crew set up an outdoor dining area right around the corner. The state of California had declared entertainment industry workers essential while threatening business shutdowns if the coronavirus hospitalizations hit specific numbers.

“I’m losing everything. Everything I own is being taken away from me and they set up a movie company right next to my outdoor patio, which is right over here and people wonder why I’m protesting and why I have had enough. They have not given us money and they have shut us down. We cannot survive, my staff cannot survive,” Marsden said.

She called Gavin Newsom and Mayor Garcetti responsible for the thousands of businesses going under and every single person that doesn’t have unemployment. She talked about the Hollywood industry’s double standards being issued by the state, while restaurant workers struggle in paying their rent or buying gifts for Christmas. “We need your help. We need somebody to do something about this,” she concluded in a Facebook video.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge James Chalfant just requested county officials to produce scientific evidence that justifies their outdoor dining ban. He urged health officials to talk more about the benefits of keeping a restaurant open rather than just talking about “the risk” of spreading a disease.

If public officials used a risk-benefit analysis for shutdowns instead of talking about “the spread,” everything would be open by now.
