LeVar Burton Goes All In For Porn In Schools

Well before playing Geordi La Forge on “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” LeVar Burton was encouraging children to read in the iconic “Reading Rainbow.” I remember watching the show as a youngster in the ’80s and have had tremendous respect for Burton’s commitment to encouraging children to read. But that respect is out the window now.

Burton hosted the National Book Awards this week and remarked at the opening of the ceremony, “Before we get going, are there any Moms for Liberty in the house? No? Good. Then hands will not need to be thrown tonight.”

Why did Burton make a joke about Moms for Liberty members being assaulted? What was it about this group that made Burton feel the need to trash them, without any reason, at the National Book Awards? He mentioned Moms for Liberty during an interview with Esquire just before the National Book Awards.

In these discussions about banned books, we hear from parents, school boards, and politicians — but we don’t hear from the young people who are suffering because of decisions made by adults. Esquire asked: “In all your advocacy work, have you heard anything from youth affected by book bannings?”

Burton began by saying, “Here’s what I want to tell you.” I think the adults present in the room have a responsibility to speak up for these kids. In many cases, the kids don’t even know what they are missing. They won’t even know they’re missing out because they will never get it because some of these people are successful. The fact that Moms for Liberty endorsed so few candidates and they all lost their elections is something I am most pleased about. Some people are trying to keep children from knowing the truth. These kids won’t know what they are missing. It’s our responsibility to speak up for them and be their voice. “That’s what it means to be an elder in our society.”

Moms for Liberty does not want to ban all books. It wants schools to stop carrying books that show graphic sex. Leftists have shown what they want young children to be exposed to under the pretense of LGBTQ inclusion. LeVar Burton is the former host of Reading Rainbow who wants children to read this kind of material in the name of “truth”.

Moms for Liberty is clear about the type of materials it does not want to be available in school libraries, where children can easily access them. The group is not telling writers to stop publishing or writing their books, nor are they requesting that retailers stop selling them.

Burton, along with many others, wants the public to think that Moms for Liberty is trying to censor classics like “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”, or “To Kill a Mockingbird”. These are two books that, I should add, are often censored over ridiculous claims of racism by leftists.

Moms for Liberty replied to Burton’s remarks in a tweet on X/Twitter.

LeVar Burton probably believes that porno should be allowed in schools. Would he give a group of children a book such as “Gender Queer”, or “Let’s Talk About It?”
