President Biden announced that Karine Jean Pierre will take over Jen Psaki’s position as White House Press Secretary. She will start later in the month. Jean-Pierre, the principal deputy press secretary of the president, was named assistant by President.
Psaki will be leaving the White House in May 13.
The president announced Thursday that Karine Jean Pierre will be the White House’s next Press Secretary. “Karine brings not only the talent, experience and integrity required for this difficult job but she will also continue to lead in communicating the Biden-Harris Administration’s work on behalf of the American people.”
Biden said: “Jill, I have known and respect Karine for a long period and she will be an important voice speaking on my behalf and that of this Administration.”
Psaki was praised by the president for setting the standard for respect, decency and decorum in the White House Briefing Room.
The president stated, “I want to thank Jen for setting the bar and communicating directly and honestly to the American people and keeping her sense d’humour while doing so.” “I want to thank Jen for her service and I wish her all the best.”
Anita Dunn, a senior advisor to the president, was also announced by the White House on Thursday. Dunn, who is a senior advisor and assistant to the president through her communications and political consulting company SKDK rejoins the White House staff and will help in advancing President’s communications goals and policy.
