Lake’s response to repeated questions regarding whether she would accept results of the election if it was lost is not surprising. This is especially when you consider how she has handled this topic other times.
Lake quickly regrets being asked by a reporter about her “election denier” status. It is amazing that the media still asks that question. They still believe they have the answer. They don’t trust Lake to have the receipts to prove it. Republicans simply can’t compete with Democrats when it comes down to delaying election results. Democrats routinely question results after they lose.
Lake was asked about her thoughts on the link between her name and denying election results during a campaign stop Monday. She really allowed the reporter to have it.
Before she asked Anthony, a young campaign worker, to give 150 examples of Democrats delaying election results, she replied that she was shocked she had asked the question. He handed her the stack of paper and she went to work. “Is this an election denier?”
She then cited Hillary Clinton’s call for Trump to be an “illegitimate President” and a Los Angeles Times editorial titled “Was 2016’s election legitimate?” It is now worth asking the question.
“So, it’s fine for Democrats to question election results, but not for Republicans. It’s a waste of time. Lake said that everyone knows this. Lake continued, “We have our freedom to speak and we won’t give it up to fake news.”
Lake pointed out that Democrats have been questioning legitimacy of elections since at least 2000. She stated that all she was asking for is that the future doesn’t allow that to happen.
Her verbal assault was not the best. She said “When I am Governor, we’re going to make sure we have honest election.” We want all voters to know their votes were counted, Democrats and Republicans. We want transparent, fair, honest and transparent elections.”
