Kamala Harris Echoes Trump with Bold Promise: No Taxes on Tips

Vice President Kamala Harris echoed a promise made by former president Donald Trump, who had announced that taxes would be eliminated on tips.

At a rally for her campaign in Nevada, Harris acknowledged the presence of Culinary Union Local 226. She then continued to promise that, if she is elected as president in November she will work to “raise minimum wage” and to “eliminate tax on tips for hospitality and service workers”.

Harris’s announcement comes after Trump said in June, during a Las Vegas rally, in Nevada, “If elected President, my administration will not charge taxes on tipping.”

Harris said to the crowd, “I know Culinary 226, is in the house.” “The culinary union has, as Nevadans know, helped to lead the way for workers’ dignity and rights in the United States. For years, I’ve worked by your side. We worked together when I was California’s Attorney General to crack down on wage theft. We fought for paid medical and family leave when I was a United States Senator. And earlier this year, we celebrated the historic contract victory in Vegas. It is my promise to all of you that when I become President, we will fight on behalf of working families in America. “We will raise the minimum wage and eliminate tax on tips for hospitality and service workers.”

Trump reiterated his pledge that “his administration will not tax tips” during a roundtable at a church for African Americans in Michigan, in June.

Trump said, “Tell all your waiters, waitresses, and anyone else who gets tips that they are… many people get tips.” “Car attendants, caddies, and many other people receive tips.” We will not tax tips. The tax is being removed immediately.

Trump criticized Harris’s recent pledge to end taxation of tips. He said that she was “just doing it for political purposes.”

Trump posted on Truth Social that “Kamala Harris’ ‘Honeymoon Period’ is ending and she is beginning to lose support in the Polls. She has copied my policy of NO TAXES FOR TIPS.” “The only difference is that she will not do it. She wants it to serve political purposes! This was TRUMP’s idea. She doesn’t have any ideas and can only steal my ideas. Remember that Kamala proposed the LARGEST tax increase in history – it won’t be happening. Make America Great Again!”

The former president has also been seen leaving a $500 tip at a restaurant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, writing “Vote Trump, No Tax on Tip” on the check.
