Jill Biden is the First Lady of the United States and called the suggestion that politicians over 75 take a competency exam “ridiculous.” She stated that she and President Joe Biden would not discuss the idea.
Jill Biden in an interview with CNN rejected the Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s test. Jill Biden was one of many Democrats who opposed the idea.
“We are fighting racism, and we’re also fighting sexism.” CNN reports that Senator Bernie Sanders replied to the suggestion, saying, “I think it’s time to also fight ageism.”
Haley responded to Sanders’ comments at a recent rally, saying, “Bernie Sanders lost his mind because I asked for that [test]. He is exactly the reason we need it.”
“Whoopi Goldberg lost her mind over it. And you know what she was doing? She was glorifying Dianne Feinstein and Maxine Waters. They are exactly the reason we need it,” Haley added.
Some examples of politicians who would fall under this policy are Waters (84) and Feinstein (89). Surprisingly many federal representatives in the United States are over 75 years old.
According to Fiscal Note, 36 members of the House of Representatives are over 75, with another eight who are 74 years old. In regards to Congress, 16 members are over 75, with Feinstein topping the list. She is only a few months older than Senator Chuck Grassley, who is also 89.
The first lady pointed out that the president has a busy schedule and asked: “How many 30-year-olds can travel by train to Poland, ontinue for nine hours to Ukraine, and then meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy?”
“So take a look at him. Look at what he does every day.”
When Jill Biden was asked about President Biden’s bid for re-election, she could not or refused to answer. “He is too busy with his numerous crises at home”.
She said, “Nothing has been planned yet.”
“He puts America’s business above his own. ”
