Hezbollah Fires Missile at Tel Aviv; Israel Responds with Counterstrike

Israel intercepted an Iranian-backed missile fired at Tel Aviv early Wednesday morning.

This is a major escalation of the conflict between Israel, and Hezbollah. The conflict intensified after Israel launched a strike against the terrorist group based in Lebanon to prevent a planned attack similar to the one on October 7.

Israel has targeted Hezbollah’s military infrastructure and caused significant damage to this terrorist group. According to The Wall Street Journal, Israeli officials confirmed their air defense system neutralized this missile.

Hezbollah’s attack sent residents into hiding in Tel Aviv. The terrorist group claimed that its attack was directed against the Mossad in retaliation to the assassinations committed by several Hezbollah key leaders.

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), in a swift response, launched a retaliatory attack against the missile launcher used to attack Tel Aviv in southern Lebanon. Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli military, told The Wall Street Journal Hezbollah fired 300 projectiles at Israel in recent days. The attack injured six people.

Israel has intensified its military operations in the last week against Hezbollah to persuade the militia to cease firing rockets into Israel’s northern region, allowing tens and thousands of displaced Israelis to return home. U.S., Arab, and European governments are worried that the recent surge in fighting could lead to a full-scale war. This comes after nearly a whole year of low-intensity combat, which began when Hezbollah started firing rockets over the border after Hamas attacked southern Israel.

The strikes on Monday in Lebanon were the bloodiest day in the hostilities so far and the most violent clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in their six-month conflict. According to Lebanese officials, since Monday’s strikes, more than 550 civilians, including women and children, have been killed and more than 1,800 others injured.

Israel has made every effort to stop Hezbollah rockets. However, some have managed to get through, leaving the citizens of Israel in constant fear.

Ami Aziza (40) had only enough time on Sunday morning to get his family into the safe room. This is a space that’s fortified in most Israeli homes. Three seconds later an Iranian Fajr-3 rocket, made in Iran, struck the small street lined with low-rise apartments and homes, leaving behind a crater. Vehicles were also set ablaze. Three people were hurt.

Aziza said, “If the rocket fell two meters farther, it would have destroyed my home,” as he and other residents tried to remove the debris from the strike. This was a peaceful city. We want to return to our normal life, our jobs. We want to send our children back to school. We want to find a diplomatic resolution to this conflict. “Since the new war began with Lebanon, everything has changed.”

Hezbollah asked Iran recently to intervene in this conflict, but the Iranian regime has not done so.

Israeli efforts to eliminate Hamas from the Gaza Strip continue, while the IDF works to release hostages. In recent days, raids in the area have killed more than 40 Hamas terrorists.
