Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, has been facing more and more problems.
The first was the disclosure of an alleged romance with Nathan Wade, the man she appointed as a special prosecutor in the case against Donald Trump, the former president. This was accompanied by evidence of at least 2 meetings held in the Biden White House. It smells like rotten eggs. The records of Wade’s estranged spouse Jocelyn Wade, which were filed in the divorce case, showed that he had allegedly purchased trips for Willis. After that, it was revealed that Fulton County Commissioner Bob Ellis had been pursuing Willis to obtain documents regarding the alleged relationship between him and Wade due to concerns over the alleged misappropriation of county funds. Willis was also scolded by Fulton County residents at a public meeting over the scandal.
She’s not going to be happy about another investigation.
According to our sister website Townhall, the Georgia Senate has just passed a Resolution forming a Committee to Investigate Willis.
The investigation body, composed of six Republicans and three Democrats has the full power to subpoena witnesses and can require them to testify under oath.
By a 30-19 vote, the GOP-led upper house of Georgia’s General Assembly greenlighted the special committee’s creation Friday, passing a resolution (S.R. 465) proposed by Republican state Sen. Greg Dolezal, who serves as the Senate’s chief deputy whip.
The resolution cited the various allegations of prosecutorial misconduct made against her, including the continued expenditure of substantial public funds in the Trump case.
In the resolution, it was stated that if a similar relationship had existed between Willis & Wade as special prosecutor:
Create a clear conflict of interests and fraud against the taxpayers of Fulton County, Georgia, and the State of Georgia. Establish grounds for District Attorney Willis to be recused from involvement in the prosecution. This could delay it indefinitely.
What is the difference between subpoena powers and the power to demand testimony under oath? Willis and Wade will have a tough time when they are questioned about their relationship and money. If she recuses herself, it could cause the Trump case to be derailed or require someone else to be appointed.
Brandon Beach, a Republican State Senator from Florida, called the “scheme”, a “prosecution to make personal profit.”
The GOP state senator stated, “I hope this investigation committee will use their subpoena powers to subpoena and subpoena records and witnesses to investigate if state funds have been spent on these lavish travels and fine dining restaurants.” “Did security personnel travel on these trips and who paid their expenses?” “Does Ms. Willis violate any ethical law by failing to disclose any gifts that she received?”
Willis will have to respond on February 2 to the accusations made by Michael Roman, the defendant in the Trump case, about the affair. There will also be a hearing on those allegations on February 15th.
