Joe Biden’s former White House stenographer, Mike McCormick, recently told the Washington Free Beacon that Biden’s mental acuity has deteriorated in recent years.
“It is a complete difference from what he was in 2017. He’s lost a step and he doesn’t seem to have the same mental acuity as he did four years ago. He doesn’t have the energy, he doesn’t have the pace of his speaking. He’s a different guy,” McCormick said.
Mike McCormick worked as a White House stenographer for 15 years and was with Biden from 2011 to 2017.
In his most recent book, Joe Biden Unauthorized, McCormick recounts his time working with Biden. He noted how Biden used to cover for his gaffes with a joke and move forward off the top of his head, but he isn’t able to do that now.

Biden’s ability to recall information is weakening. He relies too heavily on notes or a teleprompter now which makes his live interviews on television unbearable. It’s getting to a point where he can’t even separate the content he’s supposed to be reading in prepared materials from other notations. He’s been caught saying “topline message,” “end quote,” and other cringe-worthy gaffes.
When asked about his mental acuity, Biden even asked the interviewer if he was a junkie who needed to take a drug test. He gets defensive and rude.
McCormick also shares the humiliating tale of what happened in Russia between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden. It was 2011 and McCormick said that while Biden was beginning to tell a story about visiting Russia during the Cold War, the Russians cut off his microphone, turned off the press lighting, and led the media out of the room.
“To me it was like, here’s our great foreign policy expert and he just got punked. Vladimir Putin just had no fear or respect for him,” McCormick said.
The former stenographer also talked about Biden seeming “lost” during interviews now and how the problem seems more pronounced since leaving the White House. Between struggling to finish a sentence or forgetting where he is, the 77-year-old former VP is getting more scrutiny each day with his cognitive health and physical stamina.
The more we see Biden, the more we know he should’ve just stayed in the basement instead of fumbling stressfully through his campaign in front of the entire world.
