DeSantis Offers Suggestion for Combatting the Accumulation of Power in Washington, DC

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suggested that federal agencies be distributed throughout the country, rather than concentrated in one place.

According to the New York Post, DeSantis stated that DC has too much power and the result is an administrative state that rules over and imposes its will. While there are many things that must be done to re-constitutionalize the government, it could be beneficial to distribute federal agencies to other areas of the country to reduce the negative effects of this accumulation.

GOP Senator Rick Scott, Florida’s former governor, stated that he agreed. Ron is correct. The same idea was in my Rescue America plan. Scott tweeted that the Republican establishment in Washington wants us to preserve the status quo. However, we must be open to big and bold ideas if our country is to be saved.”

DeSantis was reelected during the Sunshine State’s 2022 gubernatorial contest. He is widely considered someone who could possibly mount a presidential campaign, but he has not yet announced plans to do so.

Former President Donald Trump, and former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley. Both former President Donald Trump and Nikki Haley, Ambassador to the United Nations, have already announced their presidential ambitions. In the months ahead, other Republicans may enter the race.

DeSantis was asked about his timeline to decide whether he would run for president during an interview with Fox & Friends. He mentioned that a new book is coming out and that the state’s legislative sessions are near. DeSantis stated, “As soon as we get past that, we can make a decision from there.”

DeSantis’ book “The Courage to Be Free”: Florida’s Blueprint to America’s Revival, is due to be released on February 28.

According to the Post, DeSantis stated that virtually every major institution in the country is trying to impose a “progressive” agenda on society. “Florida is committed to protecting the rights of its citizens so that they can live free from any agenda.”

Trump has attacked DeSantis by calling him “DeSanctimonious” or “RINO,” an acronym that stands only for “Republican in Name Only.”
