De Blasio’s Failed Leadership During A Wave Of Crime, Business Shutdowns, & Record Homelessness

Between Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio, it’s hard to tell which radical left leadership is running New York into the ground. Conditions have gotten so bad in New York that author Matt Palumbo even launched a billboard ad for his book “Dumb & Dumber,” which tracks the failing leadership in the state.

Mayor Bill de Blasio recently downplayed the Brooklyn shooting of a tourist returning from a Met’s game who had been an innocent bystander during a brawl between two men. A 5-year-old girl was also grazed in the head with a bullet during the incident. Mayor de Blasio brushed off the comments and said that New Yorkers “do not live in fear” while refusing to address how the state will control its worsening climate of crime – especially one that threatens innocent children.

“What I was saying…and I appreciate the opportunity to clarify, is New Yorkers – yeah, we have a lot of challenges we have to overcome, but we overcome them. Is there anxiety? Of course. Is there fear? Yes. I’m not saying there’s not any. I’m saying New Yorkers don’t get intimidated. We fight back,” Mayor de Blasio said.

The mother of the 5-year-old girl called de Blasio’s remarks an “empty statement” and that he doesn’t have any real plan for battling the spike in crime. “His press secretary called, he was outside speaking yesterday, But I didn’t have any interest. I have my kids to think about. I was more concerned about their remote learning,” she adds.

While kids are still stuck on remote learning programs, Mayor Bill de Blasio spent his week riding roller coasters at Coney Island and hanging out on the “Nora From Queens” television show set. The rest of the state is still experiencing a spike in homicide crimes, homelessness, and more business closures due to the government’s COVID-19 pandemic response. New York shelters have been experiencing record numbers for single adults sleeping in homeless shelters and a Facebook Small Business Roundtable study concluded that 31% of New York’s small businesses have closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Along with record-breaking homelessness and business shutdowns, New York City has also recorded a spike in crime. The New York police department reported double the number of shootings in March 2021 as the year before and has seen a 57% increase in shootings during the first three months of this year compared to the same period in 2020. The statistics also reveal that overall crime rose 2.4% in March 2021, compared to last year. While NYPD is struggling to keep up with new casework in the surge of shootings, De Blasio’s press secretary Bill Neidhardt brushed off the NYPD statistics and lied in a traditional liberal fashion.

“The overall crime rate is down and the number of people facing homelessness has not increased, but more and more businesses are opening up,” Neidhardt said.

Because of de Blasio and Cuomo’s strict lockdown measures last year, businesses and hardworking individuals are struggling to catch up. The lack of leadership runs deep and New York City is falling apart by the day. New Yorkers are either going to have to vote out every single radical left corrupt politician or watch everyone move out of the city month-by-month.
