California Teacher Of The Year Arrested for Having Sexual Relations With Underage Student

Officials say that a California high school teacher was arrested after allegedly having sexual relations with a male student under the age of 18.

Authorities arrested Yucaipa high school teacher Tracy Vanderhulst on Thursday at 11 pm. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office stated that they had investigated the allegations and identified her quickly as the suspect.

Authorities have not revealed if the victim, 16, is still a student of Yucaipa high school.

Vanderhulst, according to the Facebook page of Yucaipa High School, joined their faculty in 2013. In 2017, she was named the school’s Teacher Of The Year.

The Yucaipa/Calimesa News Mirror reported at the time that “She is a kind and innovative educator from whom we hope our kids will grow. She is an educator who strives for engagement with all her students, from her intervention class to her honors class.”

Vanderhulst was immediately booked into the Central Detention Center at San Bernardino. Bail was set to $30,000.

In a press release, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office stated that “Investigators worked with Yucaipa Calimesa Joint United School District to ensure a thorough investigation was completed.”

Vanderhulst has been booked at the Central Detention Center of San Bernardino with a bail set at $30,000.

Yucaipa Calimesa Joint Unified Schools District has not responded to our request for a press release. At this time, there are no other details.
