AOC Misses Deadline To File Congressional Financial Disclosure

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, a New York Rep., missed the deadline of August 13 to submit her 2021 financial disclosures the House Ethics Committee.

Ocasio Cortez won the Democratic nomination in the Tuesday primary because she ran unopposed. This meant that Democratic voters didn’t have the opportunity to examine her disclosures during primary process.

According to Title I of the 1978 Ethics in Government Act, the Clerk of the House is expected to file the documents.

Ocasio-Cortez is fined $200 if she fails to provide the financial reports within the grace period.

In a recent interview, Ocasio Cortez admitted that it is always a concern that her constituents perceive her as out of touch.
