Over the last week, Major League Baseball (MLB) has bought into President Joe Biden’s lie regarding “voter suppression” over Georgia’s new election laws. And while the laws simply permit more voter expansion in rural areas and less voter fraud, nobody has called out the President on his outrageous claims, even when he suggested that voters would be banned from drinking water in line. None of these things are true but Democrats don’t necessarily work off a foundation of ‘truth’ to begin with.
Instead of pushing political views to the side and playing baseball, MLB announced that they would be pulling two of their largest sporting events, the All-Star Game and the MLB draft, out of Georgia? Why? Because the state made a decision that upset Democrats – particularly President Biden. They announced that the state’s move has the potential risk to “restrict voting access for people of color,” although they never elaborated on that claim.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said that they have listened to their players “views” and have decided to demonstrate the values as a sport by moving out of Georgia, adding that MLB “fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions to the ballot box.” Again, they never elaborated on what those claims are based off exactly.
The move has divided political parties even more. While former president Barack Obama applauds MLB for ‘taking a stand on behalf of voting rights’ and Biden encouraged other teams to do the same, former President Trump has called out MLB for their fear of radical left democrats. In a statement, he pointed out all of the ‘woke companies,’ alongside Coca-Cola and Delta, who have moved their corporations into a far-left agenda.
“Baseball is already losing tremendous number of fans, and now they leave Atlanta with their All-Star game because they are afraid of the Radical Left Democrats… Boycott baseball and all of the woke companies that are interfering with Free and Fair Elections. Are you listening Coke, Delta, and all!” He wrote.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is also fighting back in a letter he sent to the MLB and informed them that he would not be participating in throwing the first pitch at the Texas Rangers’ home opening game. He called out their false narrative over the Georgia election laws (without even reading the laws) and said it was shameful that America’s pastime is being influenced by partisan politics.
“Thank you for the invitation to throw out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers’ home opening game. I was looking forward to it – until Major League Baseball adopted what has turned out to be a false narrative about the election law reforms in Georgia and, based on that false narrative, moved the MLB All-Star Game from Atlanta,” he wrote.
Gov. Abbott adds that this decision does not diminish the deep respect he has for the Texas Rangers baseball organization and that he wishes the team great success this season.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp also lashed out at MLB over basing their decision on radical-left lies rather than just reading it. “Here’s the truth. The law expands access to voting, secures ballot drop boxes around the clock in every county, expands weekend voting, protects no-excuse absentee voting. It levels the playing field on voter I.D. requirements as well as streamlining election procedures,” he said.
While no one at the White House has explained why the Georgia laws deserve such a boycott, it’s evident that they don’t need to. The ‘woke mob’ will boycott the laws before even reading them. It’s just another fear-mongering tactic to keep people away from the polls and to push for mail-in ballots instead.
