Rep. Donalds Calls Out CNN For Trump Obsession & Attacking Black Republicans, Says He Has His Own Thoughts & Can Support Whoever He Wants

Rep. Byron Donalds, a black GOP lawmaker in the House of Representatives, recently shared that he has been declined by the Congressional Black Caucus as a member. He said he was disappointed in the Congressional Black Caucus for claiming to ensure that Black Americans have the opportunity to achieve the American dream while being excluded from their group. The CBC had inducted other freshman lawmakers into the group nearly six months ago. There are currently no Republican members of the CBC.

“As a newly elected Black Member of Congress, my political party should not exempt me from a seat at the table dedicated to achieving this goal. As a young Black man who grew up in the inner city of Brooklyn in a single-parent household, my achieving of the American Dream would be a valued addition to the CBC and one that should transcend politics,” Rep. Donalds said.

When a CBC spokesperson was asked about Donalds being denied by the caucus, they declined to answer and instead said that their group remains focused on fighting issues that “support the Black community, including the police accountability bill, protecting voting rights and a jobs bill that helps out communities.”

Rep. Donalds even went viral over an exchange with CNN’s “News Day” anchor Brianna Keilar regarding racism and Trump, adding that he has been denied entry into the CBC due to being a conservative. Keilar suggested that the congressman’s support for former President Donald Trump, as well as his decision to challenge the 2020 presidential election results, played a role in the group attempting to exclude him. Keilar also tried to air footage of Trump’s famous “both sides” comment, which was extremely misquoted and edited by the media all last year and thoroughly debunked a dozen times now.

“Whatever the president said in the past has nothing to do with this discussion at all … as a Black man in America, I’m allowed to have my own thoughts on who I choose to support and who I choose not to support. My support for President Trump … is irrelevant. That has nothing to do with this discussion. This is whether the ideology of somebody who is conservative is welcome in the Congressional Black Caucus. It’s really that simple,” Rep. Donalds said.

Donalds told Keilar that he has expressed interest in joining and that Democratic friends of his from the Florida legislature have also asked him to join, but that he is still waiting to hear from the CBC. He said he wants conservative ideals to be discussed at the Congressional Black Caucus table.

Donalds communication director Harrison Fields told Fox News that “white liberals” such as CNN’s Keilar can’t comprehend how Black people could be Republicans, adding that it’s no surprise they would fixate on his support of Trump rather than the CBC’s mission. He went on to blast the radical left network and their obsession with pushing anti-Trump narratives against his boss.

“The bar isn’t very high for those on CNN. They usually aren’t interested in telling the truth. They are solely focused on their narrative, which, since Trump has been out of the White House, has been to continue to demean and damage his reputation,” Fields said.

While CNN has not responded to comments regarding the viral interview, the part of inclusion is once again excluding conservatives. The Dems are forever intimidated and afraid of Black Republicans who don’t buy their agenda of being bribed with free stuff and emotional rhetoric.
