“Not On My Watch”

There has been growing speculation that Mount Rushmore, the monument honoring U.S presidents, may be targeted for destruction.

As statues honoring America’s founding fathers continue to fall this week, far-left activists have been called for the blasting of Mount Rushmore. This isn’t anything new though. They’ve been targeting this particular monument for years now. The deadly violence in Charlottesville in 2017 painted a picture of a slippery slope of what’s to happen next. They wanted the carved statues in nature blown up.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem has responded to this particular threat: “Not on my watch.” This was in response to conservative pundit Ben Shapiro’s tweet “So, when is our woke historical revisionist priesthood going to insist on blowing up Mount Rushmore?”

Conservative co-host of The View Meghan McCain also voiced her concerns for the monument tweeting that we are one week removed from entire cable news panels debating whether or not we should blow up Mount Rushmore. The concern isn’t far-fetched considering statues of each of the four presidents whose faces are etched into the rock have either been slated for removal or topped.

Portant rioters removed statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson over the past few weeks. The George Washington statue was torn down by rioters draped with a burning American flag and spray painted with ‘genocidal colonist,’ ‘BLM,’ and ‘f*** cops.’ The Thomas Jefferson statue was also toppled over at a high school named after the founding father. There are also calls for the school to be renamed.

Looks like the liberals want to completely destroy this country and its history, and rebuild it as a Soviet-style dictatorship. Not on Trump’s watch. This stopped being protests and started being pure anarchy.

Rioters have also vowed to tear down the Emancipation Memorial in Washington D.C., which depicts President Abraham Lincoln and a freed slave, while Boston is considering removing a similar statue featuring Lincoln. Other protesters have argued that demonizing white people and destroying statues was not helping their case.

Fox News has reported that no serious indications of a push have been made for destroying Mount Rushmore, but Gov. Noem has told media outlets that there has been heavy online activity indicating threats to the monument. “This threat to the mountain could remain in place for quite some time. We’re prepared to be there and be diligent about protecting it,” Noem said.

She also posted a portion of her interview on Twitter with the message: “The men on Mt. Rushmore helped make America the greatest country in history. They weren’t perfect; nobody is. But we should learn from their example and work together to accomplish their dreams for our country.”

We are facing a war from people who seek to erase historical figures from existence. There will always be complexity with history. Good thing we have books.
