Melania Trump, former first lady, stated Thursday that she was “fulfilling her official duties” as first lady of U.S.A on January 6, 2021. Fox News Digital exclusive: Had she been fully informed about the Capitol events during that day, she would have “immediately denounced the violence.”
Trump’s remarks come after Stephanie Grisham, her former chief of staff, publicly claimed that Trump did not sign off immediately on a condemnation statement for the Capitol riot.
Former first lady said that this was a significant undertaking that requires great care and attention to detail.
Trump continued by saying that she had “always been very supportive my former Chief Of Staff, Stephanie Grisham.”
Grisham began her White House tenure as a first lady’s assistant. She later became the White House press secretary after Sarah Sanders’ departure in the summer 2019. When Kayleigh McEnany was appointed to the East Wing in April 2020, Grisham returned to that post.
Trump said: “It’s evident that Grisham’s recent betrayals were a last-ditch effort to resuscitate Her ruined career, and reputation.”
Last month, Grisham tweeted a screenshot from a text conversation she allegedly had on Jan. 6, 2021 with the former first Lady.
Grisham’s screenshot shows that the two messages were sent with a contact saved to “MT.”
Trump said on Thursday to Fox News: “I always condemn violence.”
Trump stated, “Had my information been complete, naturally, I would immediately denounce the violence at the Capitol Building.” “And while Ms. Grisham is disappointed, it is not unusual or an isolated incident.”
She said, “This isn’t the first time that a former employee has tried to keep relevancy and profit by using mine to create a false story.”
Pro-Trump rioters broke into the U.S. Capitol during a joint session by Congress to certify that the Electoral College results were in the favor of President Biden. Several people were killed in the riot.
As they battle inflation, rising gas prices, and other factors for public attention, the Jan. 6 committee holds a series hearings.
Trump’s former President posted on TRUTH Social his criticism of the panel’s corrupt politicians and called them “political thugs”.
