Kennedy Family Faces Backlash After Mocking RFK Jr. for Suspending Campaign and Backing Trump

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. slammed his former political party in a Friday statement explaining why he suspended his independent presidential bid and endorsed Donald Trump, the GOP nominee for president.

Kennedy stated that “in the name of saving the democracy, the Democratic Party has set itself on destroying it.”

He continued, “These were the principles that convinced me to leave the Democratic Party to run as an Independent and now to give my support to Donald Trump.” “The causes: Free speech; the war in Ukraine; and the war against our children.”

Kennedy made similar remarks after an appearance in a New York court on Wednesday, where he appealed a ruling regarding ballot access.

He told reporters that the DNC was in Chicago, talking about voting rights. “They’re spending hundreds of millions, if not tens of millions, of dollars just to keep me from being on the ballot,” he added. “I don’t think either my father or my uncle would recognize this party.”

As RFK Jr. and his family know, the Kennedy name is sacred in Democrat Party circles. They also know that his family members who virulently opposed his campaign, stances, and endorsed Joe Biden also knew this. This is why, in response to RFK Jr.’s announcement of Trump’s endorsement, they released their statement, calling it a “betrayal of Kennedy values”.

“We want a united America, one that is filled with hope, and a vision of the future that is based on individual freedom, economic promise, and national pride. We believe in Harris Walz. Bobby’s decision today to support Trump is a betrayal of the values our father and family hold dear. It’s a sad end to a tragic story.”

It was not surprising that mockery and ridicule were swift.

As I have said before, it is not appropriate for the Kennedys to lecture anyone, much less their brother, about “betrayal” or “values of the family” when they are so rife with scandal and a sordid political and personal history.

Here’s an overview of the highlights (lowlights) reel.

Ted Kennedy sexually abused a waitress and Sen. Chris Dodd during the 1980s, resulting in what was called the “waitress sandwiches”.
