IL Mayor Rebukes Officials, Cites ‘Attacks on Black Woman in Power’ Over Spending Queries

Mayor Tiffany Henyard became agitated when officials asked her about the issues that had caused a storm in Dolton, Illinois. She received a barrage of questions regarding transparency and controversial spending.

Henyard can be heard in the video talking with other officials, “Y’all should be ashamed of y’all selves. Y’all black. Y’all are black. And y’all sitting up here beating and attacking a black woman that’s in power. You should be ashamed of y’all selves.”

“Y’all forget I am the leader. They want to hear from the mayor. If y’all ain’t learned that yet, the mayor. Not the trustees who do nothing that only runs their mouth. Y’all don’t do no work, no work,” she said.

Henyard has paid close to $300,000. Henyard hires beauty vendors, despite its modest median salary of $24K.

Henyard was also criticized for spending thousands of dollars in taxpayer funds on food and travel, according to the report. The mayor has, however, refused to reveal why he spent so much on expensive trips and services.

According to Fox32, Henyard terminated Robert Collins by the end of 2023.

“Wrong is wrong and there’s a time to hold people responsible and accountable for their actions,” he said:

According to Fox32, Henyard announced a prize of $1,000.00 for Black History Month. This public funding has raised concerns among neighbors.

“Well, turns out the million dollars is part of the general assistance fund administered by Thornton Township which is used for food pantries, senior services, and other social programs,” a reporter for the outlet said.
