Garth Brooks has opened up about his marriage and admitted that he was not the best spouse or father.
In a recent interview, the country singer reflected on his relationship with his family and said that he was aware he needed to make changes.
“I was terrible at being a husband, and I was terrible at being a father.” Brooks told Billboard, “I had to get myself together.”
The 61-year-old admitted that despite being in the spotlight, he didn’t make positive headlines in the early days of his career. He said he wouldn’t have been able to be in the public eye back then if social media existed.
Brooks remembered, “I was featured on the front page in USA Today as a bad man and husband.” I would have never made it through that if social media was around back then.

The two country music stars have been married since 2005. Yearwood is also a “bonus mother” to Brook’s three children, Taylor August, and Allie from his marriage with Sandy Mahl.
Yearwood revealed to People magazine that Brooks had been “flirting quite hard” over text with her before they walked on the ACM Awards red carpet in May.
She added that their relationship was “always like a first date.” It’s just a fact.
Brooks gave a glowing review of his wife’s character when asked to explain why they have been together for so long. “Come on! You can see why I’m in love with her”, he said to E! News was available at the time.
Brooks said to Billboard that as music and media have evolved over the years, he will not stop listening to country singers just because they are embracing cancel culture.
Don’t think that their music is bad just because The Chicks suddenly canceled a show. He explained that “their music was fantastic”.
“My thing, I’d like to hear new music from Luke Combs followed by The Chicks and Lainey Wilson.”
The singer of “Friends in Low Places”, began his Las Vegas residency in the last month. Brooks hinted that he might be working on Chris Gaines’ new music, which is his alter-ego. Gaines released an alternative rock album called ‘Greatest Hits’ in 1999.
The fans can also expect a duets release from Brooks and Yearwood.
Brooks, who is known for his music, has also embarked on a new business venture, working to open a bar in Nashville, Tennessee.
Construction is underway for the Friends In Low Places & Honky Tonk Bar.
