Last week, the Biden administration acknowledged that COVID-19 was created by man and had been leaked from Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The Americans were not particularly surprised.
A new Rasmussen Reports poll found that 67% of Americans believed COVID originated from the Wuhan laboratory. Trump claimed that he had seen evidence in the first weeks of the pandemic. However, the media and Dr. Anthony Fauci quickly dismissed the theory. This prompted an investigation to discredit the theory. A further 65% believed that U.S. officials had been involved in a “cover up” regarding China’s involvement in the pandemic.
Recent reports have shown that COVID masks are ineffective in slowing or stopping the spread of the disease. 49% of respondents said they already believed they did not work, while 35% were shocked.
The pandemic caused a significant loss of credibility for public health officials. Only 43% gave them a high grade, while 55% gave them an average or poor grade.
Rasmussen reports that “majorities of all political categories — 81% of Republicans and 53% of Democrats — believed the virus originated from China before the Energy Department’s recent report confirmed that conclusion.” “Majorities in every political category, 55% of Democrats, 77% Republicans and 61% unaffiliated voters, believe it to be at least somewhat probable that some U.S. officials conspired with China in covering up its role in the COVID-19 epidemic.”
