DeSantis Fires Back at Gavin Newsom With Blistering Burn About California

The new version of the East-Coast/West-Coast rivalry has now manifested, but with different characters.

California Governor Gavin Newsom must feel extremely threatened by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, as he has spent an inordinate amount of time and money attacking him and his state of Florida.

These ads are quite cringe-worthy, but I digress.

Newsom appears to be trying to get people back to California. It’s no secret that California has been losing residents for many years. Hundreds of thousands have left California to seek better pastures in redder states like Texas and Florida. His case is not very convincing. His state is under-taxed and over-regulated. Memes have been created from reports about California’s power grid.

They’re also rich in jokes, according to DeSantis.

The Republican Governor of Florida responded to the west coast attacks with burns. Newsom will get some ice.

DeSantis emphasized that Californians should be more concerned about Florida’s power outage.

“Someone said to me that once all those who want to move to Florida leave [California], then maybe there’ll be adequate power,” DeSantis laughed.

DeSantis pointed out Florida’s main draw, which is the respect for the freedoms and rights of the American people. Newsom claimed that DeSantis was attacking directly. DeSantis also addressed Florida’s job situation.

DeSantis stated that Florida now has more people working than it did before COVID.

The bottom line, Florida is faring better than California and has been doing so for some time. DeSantis’ refusal to accept the unscientific nonsense surrounding COVID and open his state earlier than other states was a master stroke move that raised his status and made him America’s favorite governor.

It is clear that Newsom is the current favorite of the left in the event Biden doesn’t or cannot run for office in 2024. DeSantis has not yet announced any plans for 2024, but suspicions are high. Newsom attacking DeSantis was an attempt to create a contrast and make it appear that DeSantis and Newsom are equal competitors.

They aren’t.

DeSantis’s state is almost successful in every sense of Newsom’s word. It’s not red governor vs. Blue governor; it’s good governor against the bad governor and Newsom is the perfect example of a bad governor.
