Abby Phillip, CNN’s Abby Phillip, hosted a panel Thursday night which didn’t quite go as planned. Phillip’s visibility has increased over the past few years, and she is gaining more notoriety on the network. Making a name on CNN requires being a hack who rushes to defend Democrats regularly.
Phillip hasn’t failed in this area, but she’s only gotten worse since Kamala Harris became the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. She briefly behaved like a journalist in the battle to push Joe Biden underneath the bus. But everyone who was paying attention knew that this act of honesty on her part was purely self-serving, and meant only to benefit Democrats.
Phillip gave another example of why she couldn’t do her job on Wednesday during a panel discussion called “State of the Race”. The panel included several Democrat analysts, as well as Republican analyst Scott Jennings. Jennings continues to be the lone voice of logic and reason at CNN. This time it wasn’t only Jennings that spoke out. Phillip told a lie that was so outrageous, that even the liberals in the panel could not ignore it.

TURNER: To the vice president on the fracking issue, and I am here as a liberator. In 2019, she ran for office and said “I’m over fracking. We’re going to get rid of it.” You can’t just say that you are going to get rid of it. She was dead on her feet. You can tell voters that you’re not running in 2019 or 2020 and, you know what? I’ve changed your mind.
PHILLIP: She, she… I think the point is, in reality, she has reversed her position by 2020.
Cross-talk while everyone fact-checks the woman at once
Why would a news anchor who claims to be unbiased tell lies that are easily disproven to defend Kamala Harris? This should be the very first thing you ask yourself after watching this clip. Nina Turner may be a radical socialist, but the vice-president was indeed against fracking in the 2020 elections. Phillip probably read something else on social media and did not bother to do any research. But why should it be her job to provide that talking point?
The moderators of ABC News did the same thing during the debate Tuesday night. They “fact-checked” Donald Trump at least twice only to find that their fact-checks were wrong or misleading. Journalists need to stick to their job, which is reporting the news and not making it. If Phillip wants a career as an analyst, then she should stop pretending to be objective and become one.
Phillip is also playing a sly game. Harris did not change her mind in 2020 or denounce the calls she made to ban fracking unequivocally. She joined a presidential race that had a different viewpoint because of the person at the top. Harris is the new front-runner. She can’t pretend that her position has changed because she kept quiet as Biden’s vice president. It’s a shame that the ABC News Moderators didn’t push Harris on this issue.
It’s still funny to see how even the far-left analysts in a CNN panel will roll their eyes at some of the lies that these hosts are willing to tell. Harris promised to ban fracking entirely. She has not explained her apparent shift in position on this issue.
