Conservative commentator and political activist Candace Owens announced she will be filing a lawsuit against Facebook’s third-party fact-checkers over censorship issues. This is after one of her Facebook posts about coronavirus was flagged for “misinformation.” The piece was originally posted by a doctor and verified by one of social media’s independent fact-checkers.
“Quite literally a doctor gave his opinion about COVID-19, which I shared, and Facebook issued a strike on my account because they said only information that they agree with about COVID-19 was acceptable,” Owens explained on Fox News.
Owens talked about how Facebook demonetized her page after the incident, meaning she could no longer make money off of the social media platform. This was the main motivation of her lawsuit against the radical left and their “fact-checkers” that shut down your free speech if they don’t like it. She also cited how often this happens to President Trump for allegedly baseless claims and misleading information.
Candace Owens launched a website titled “Fact-Check Zuck” that helps fund her legal battle moving forward against the social media giants. She hired a pair of high-powered attorneys, including Todd McMurtry who was part of former Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann’s legal team.
The defendants include USA Today and Lead Stories Fact Checker, both of which are Facebook partners as third-party fact-checkers. She is suing the two defendants for applying ratings to content and applying labels such as “false,” “misleading,” or “missing context.”
On the website, Owens addressed the nation against the Silicon Valley companies who are trying to suppress the American people’s voice. “Our freedoms are being stripped away. The overlords of Big Tech are determining what Americans can and cannot say, share, like, and post. Support our legal efforts today as we fight back against Facebook’s fact-checkers, confronting those who are suppressing free speech, thought, and expression across our great country,” the site reads.
Owens announced the website and lawsuit against Facebook in a recent video on Twitter, along with attaching a link to the website. Many users tweeted their support to Owen, noting that they want to live in an America where large tech companies stop discriminating against black conservative online businesses because of different views and beliefs.
Candace Owens has always been the peoples’ voice. She is a fearless and confident human being who isn’t afraid to stand for what she believes in and take on the big tech companies. Left-leaning politicians, media, and social network platforms will always censor the truth if it doesn’t fit their narrative. It’s time for the blatant lies to stop running rampant.
