The radical left has had a certain change in heart regarding the welfare of law enforcement officials since the incident at the Capitol building. The media company Blue Lives Matter, which is founded and run entirely by active and retired law enforcement officers, pointed out the hypocrisy after several high-profile Democrats tweeted their support to officers who were injured or killed during the Capitol incident.
“The showing of love & compassion today from Democrats & Liberals for the welfare of police officers is amazing. Too bad it never showed up while cops were being murdered by #BLM crowd while cities were being burned to the ground for months on end. Why now? Nevermind. We know,” Blue Lives Matter tweeted.
They also tweeted out their support to President Trump, before his account was deleted, and said that he stood by them through it all and still does. Left-leaning politicians continue to thank Capitol officers for their bravery that day while working on bills to take away their protections on the job.
After months of allowing Antifa and /Black Lives Matter riots to torch communities nationwide, Democrats have taken a different tone against protests and disrespecting officers. Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, for example, demonized police for months and accused federal officers of running concentration camps and looking to defund them, but has now displayed an overwhelming amount of sympathy and support for the officers involved in the Capitol incident.
Ocasio-Cortez began attacking and responding to tweets posted by former NY State Assemblymember Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, who was celebrating Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and ‘backing the blue.’ Malliotakis is currently representing New York’s 11th congressional district as a member of the Republican Party.
“One of your first votes in Congress was to amplify a known lie about our nation’s free elections that incited a riot that killed a Capitol Police officer. There’s no crawling back from that with a hashtag. You brought shame to our delegation and the district you represent,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
Rep. Malliotakis released a statement regarding the events at the Capitol and condemned those who are wreaking havoc and participating in violence. She called the actions unconscionable, unacceptable, and un-American, and said these individuals should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Republicans have been under fire from members of the Democrat Party for inciting violence, despite condemning the incident at the Capitol.
The left have forgotten their original stance about protests from last summer, including Ocasio-Cortez, who had originally pointed out that the whole point was to challenge the status quo and advocate for concrete policy changes. During the summer protests that resulted from the death of George Floyd, Ocasio-Cortez claimed that protests are supposed to make people uncomfortable since activists have been playing the “polite language policy game” for too long.
Democrats have taken the incident at the Capitol building and thrown a media storm at it to make it look like they’ve supported law enforcement this whole time – all while still trying to defund them.
