According to Axios, officials are focusing on computer modeling.
Axios reported two U.S. officials and an Israeli official, as well as a current Israeli government official, are examining new information about computer modeling performed by Iranian scientists. This information could be used for the development of nuclear weapons.
What it means: Although the purpose of the modeling is unclear, some U.S. and Israeli officials claim that intelligence shows Iran’s intention to develop nuclear weaponry. Some officials in both countries have said that it is a “blip” and does not reflect a change to Iran’s policy or strategy towards weaponization. Iran denies wanting nuclear weapons.

While intelligence officers in the administration continue to downplay the threat posed by a nuclear Iran, other experts do not share their optimism:

Goldberg warned that the administration estimated that it would take 18 months while Israelis thought that it would only take a year. The timeline could be shorter if weaponization has already begun and computer models have been perfected.
The prospect of a nuclear Iran is a terrifying one for all, but especially for Israel. If they are forced to act and when, will it be?
