Speaker Johnson Slams CBS for ‘Selective Editing’ Following VP Harris ’60 Minutes’ Controversy

House Speaker Mike Johnson accused CBS News of omitting important answers that he provided on “Face the Nation”, an appearance Sunday. The network continues to face backlash for airing two different answers Vice President Kamala gave to the same question.

To save time, the TV news industry trims or cuts pre-taped interviews. This process must be done with journalistic integrity to avoid removing critical context and making it appear as if the answer was provided at a different stage of the interview.

CBS was criticized for editing their interviews to promote Democrats and lower Republicans. They cut five minutes of my nearly 15-minute interview yesterday. Johnson said on X “You can judge the why” before giving examples.

Johnson added, “I recently traveled to NC and the victims who were affected by Hurricane Helene told me that the Biden-Harris administration STILL had not provided them with resources they desperately needed nearly two weeks after landfall. CBS has selectively edited this first-hand report.

The staff of Johnson, who appeared to have recorded his interview separately from the CBS broadcast, shared a comparison between the two. Margaret Brennan, the moderator, asked about the Hurricane Relief Fund.

Johnson said in the CBS version of the story that Biden’s and Harris’ administrations had “obligated some funds, but only distributed two percent.”

Johnson responded in the CBS response: “The reconstruction and rescue efforts are still ongoing. We will then deal with the rest.” The exchange lasted about 11 seconds.

In the video that Johnson uploaded on social media, he gives a more detailed response.

They’ve pledged some money but have only distributed 2%. Bring your cameras and talk to the people. Don’t listen to politicians or the administration. They will tell you. The people who are on the ground will tell you. Do not listen to politicians or administrations. The state needs all hands and resources on deck. CBS did not show a more detailed response.

Johnson revealed another one of his “receipts”, which revealed CBS’ editing.

CBS does not want you to be aware of Virginia Governor Youngkin. Youngkin wants to remove non-Americans from the voter list in Virginia. Johnson captioned another video side-by-side that showed how the Biden-Harris Administration is suing Virginia to stop this.

In the clip below, Johnson and Brennan have a brief disagreement about non-citizens voting in federal elections.

Johnson was heard saying on CBS “Here’s the problem. In some states, registering to vote is not required for non-citizens or illegals. ” “We are aware that it is happening… Everyone should be concerned about the law being followed. ”

The answer that was given, which was much more detailed, has been cut.

“Here’s the problem, there is several states that are not requiring proof of citizenship when illegals or non-citizens register to vote. We know what’s happening. Look, Glenn Youngkin in Virginia… he issued an executive order to clean up the voting rules heading into the election. Look, less than 30 days out, a couple of days ago, the Biden administration’s Department of Justice… sued the governor and the Commonwealth of Virginia to try to prevent them from cleaning up their voter rules. See, that kind of thing creates a lot of doubt and concerns in the minds of the American people. Why would they do that? Everybody should want the law to be followed,” Johnson said in the clip that didn’t air in full on CBS.

Johnson has posted a second instance.

CBS cut this out because they were focusing more on 2020 than the immediate threats to electoral security.” He captioned the video he posted on X.

CBS edited out the long response Johnson gave on video recorded by his team.

CBS News did not immediately respond to our comment request.

CBS News has been criticized for removing Harris’ long “word salad” response, broadcasted on the October 6, episode of “Face the Nation”, to promote the 60 Minutes sit-down, from the primetime edition of the show that aired the evening of Monday Oct. 7, 2010.

CBS has been urged to release the uncut video or transcript of Harris’s widely mocked reply since there are questions as to whether the response was edited simply for time or removed to help the Democratic Presidential candidate.

CBS broadcast footage of Harris’ unflattering answer to Bill Whitaker when he asked why she believed Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, did not listen to the U.S. CBS broadcasted the video before the 60 Minutes Interview airing at prime time.

However, the vice president’s lengthy answer didn’t make the final version and a shorter, more focused answer to the same question was shown instead. It appeared to be two different parts of one lengthy Harris response, but critics of CBS have pointed out that Americans will never know for sure without seeing the unedited transcript.
