Pelosi Weighs In on Biden’s Decision to Exit 2024 Race

Now, one of the people who may have sparked the tidal waves that led President Joe Biden to decide to step down as the Democratic candidate in 2024 is speaking out. After Biden announced on Sunday that he would not be running for re-election, he then endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee in 2024:

Remember that former Democrat House speaker Pelosi said that on July 10, she and other Dems “encouraged [Biden] to make his own decisions on whether or not to remain on the ballot” but that “time was running out”:

LEMIRE: Madam Speaker, I know you’ve just gone through the President’s past, but can you tell me about the present moment? Do you support him to lead the Democratic ticket as the leader?

PELOSI: The president will decide whether he runs for re-election as long as he has the power to do so. We all encourage him to decide because the time is short. It’s not my place to tell him that I am no longer the leader of the caucus. He is loved, and respected and people want to see him make this decision.

She wrote a statement on Sunday that was posted to X:

Full statement:

President Joe Biden has always been a patriotic American, who put his country before himself. His vision, values, and leadership have made him one of the most influential Presidents in American History.

I am grateful to President Biden, who has always believed in the promise and potential of America. He gives people the chance to achieve their goals.

God bless America for Joe Biden’s goodness and greatness.

It’s not clear if she agrees with Biden’s endorsement. Her reaction was after his announcement but before his endorsement. We’ll watch how this plays out over the next few days.
