Tragedy Strikes: Fire at New York Rescue Shelter Claims Lives of Over 40 Dogs

Authorities said that more than 40 dogs died Thursday after a fire destroyed a rescue group’s kennels located in northern New York.

Fire officials reported that a passerby who noticed the fires at the Maple Ridge Kennels building in Canton, No Dogs Left Behind, at 1 am had called them. The Canton Fire Department posted on Facebook that the fire overran the building and the animals died before firefighters could rescue them.

No Dogs Left Behind members expressed their sadness.

In a post on social media, the group stated, “Each dog had been a member of our family.” “Tragically, the dogs are once again victims.” “We have no words for our sorrow.”

St. Lawrence County officials are investigating the cause of this fire. Authorities said that no firefighters or others were injured.

The building was shaped like a house and had kennels on the inside, with a playground outside. No Dogs Left Behind’s website has a video showing dogs running on grassy fields and paths.
